“Get Connected @ your library”
Tulsa City-County Library Celebrates
Teen Tech Week, March 2-8
Tulsa City-County Library will debut video gaming and offer a variety of fun interactive events to celebrate Teen Tech Week, March 2-8.
Teen Tech Week is a national initiative sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that teens are competent and ethical users of technologies, especially those that are offered through libraries, such as DVDs, databases, audiobooks and video games.
“Teen Tech Week encourages teens to use the library’s nonprint resources for education and recreation, and to recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals in the field of information technology,” said Amanda Kuhns, teen services librarian, Tulsa City-County Library.
During Teen Tech Week, Tulsa City-County Library will debut its new gaming equipment at “Get Your Game On @ TCCL” at the Zarrow Regional Library on March 6. Additional gaming programs will be offered at the Helmerich and Martin Regional libraries the following day. With funding from the Tulsa Library Trust’s Project Teen: Peggy V. Helmerich Special Project Fund, the library purchased gaming equipment, including Wii, PlayStation2 and XBox 360, to use for teen programming.
