Virtual Library->Tours

Generalized tours of the Central Library are available.  If you would like to become a docent who leads these tours or if you would like to schedule a tour, contact Gretchen Hannefield in the Friends & Volunteers Office at 596-7962.

The purpose of the African-American Resource Center is to collect, preserve and provide access to resources honoring and documenting the experience of people of African descent.

As the only center of its kind in the state of Oklahoma, our services have attracted visitors throughout the nation. Group tours of the Center's collection and special features are available by appointment. To arrange a tour, call the Coordinator at 596-7280.

In addition, the Center sponsors an annual tour of Oklahoma's historic All-Black Towns.  Call the Coordinator for more information.

The Research Center of the Central Library offers specialized tours.

If you are a teacher and  would like to schedule a tour or workshop, or call her at 596-7943. Librarians will work with you to develop a program that highlights resources for your students' specific projects.

The Research Center also offers tours to business and professional groups. The tours are individually tailored for the group's specific needs.

The Children's Department at Central Library will book the following tours for day cares, schools, and civic groups:

Tours of the Central Library's Media Center are available highlighting particular subjects or themes.   Call 596-7933 to make arrangements.

The Readers' Library of the Central Library offers tours for book groups which are tailored to the interests of the specific group.

The Genealogy Collection at the Schusterman-Benson Library regularly schedules tours of the collection.  For more information, call 746-5027.

Branch libraries invite school classes to visit for library instruction or to work on special projects. Call your local branch library to schedule a time or to get more information.
